David Annison

David Annison is an experienced Physiotherapist and MSK Sonographer with a strong clinical interest in point-of-care ultrasound, advanced musculoskeletal practice and upper-limb assessment. Working within the NHS, he has developed extensive experience integrating ultrasound into clinical assessment and decision-making.

A significant part of David’s work is focused on MSK ultrasound education. He teaches point-of-care ultrasound to clinicians and is delivering a dedicated ultrasound masterclass at the British Elbow & Shoulder Society (BESS) 2026 meeting, alongside Mike Bryant. His teaching has a strong practical focus, linking scanning technique and image interpretation with real-world MSK assessment.

David brings together clinical sonography, advanced physiotherapy and education, with particular expertise in applying ultrasound within complex musculoskeletal and upper-limb practice. His teaching emphasises practical scanning skills, clinical reasoning and the effective integration of point-of-care ultrasound into patient management.
