These terms apply when you book a course with SMUG Training Ltd, which runs the Sports Medicine Ultrasound Group (“SMUG”, “we”, “us”). Our address is SMUG Training Ltd, c/o N R Betts & Co., 2 Victoria Square, Fountain Court, St. Albans, Hertfordshire AL1 3TF. These terms apply when you book a course through ultrasoundtraining.co.uk. By booking you agree to them. Questions? Email info@ultrasoundtraining.co.uk.
1. Booking a course
- Courses are booked through our booking window, which is run by Ticket Tailor.
- Your booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email. Until then we have not accepted it.
- Check the dates, venue and prerequisites on the course page before you book.
- If you book for someone else, you must make sure they know these terms.
2. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown in pounds sterling on each course page.
- Pay by card: pay in full when you book. Card payments are taken securely by Stripe.
- Invoice to your employer or NHS trust: choose “Invoice my employer” at checkout and give us the billing details and any purchase order number. We hold your place and send an invoice.
- Invoices are due 30 days before the course starts. We send reminders. If the invoice is still unpaid by then, we may cancel the booking and release the place to someone else.
- If you book less than 30 days before the course, payment is due immediately.
- If you would like to pay in instalments, email us before you book. Instalments are only agreed in writing.
3. If you need to cancel
Tell us in writing by email as soon as you can. The refund depends on how much notice you give before the course starts.
| Your notice | What you get back |
|---|---|
| 57 days or more | A full refund, less an administrative charge of 4% of the course fee |
| 28 to 56 days | A 50% refund |
| Fewer than 28 days | No refund |
- If you cannot attend, you may ask to move to a later date or send a colleague in your place. We will say yes where we can. Please email us.
- These terms do not affect any legal rights you have as a consumer.
4. If we change or cancel a course
- We sometimes have to change a tutor, venue or timetable. We will tell you as soon as we can.
- If we cancel a course, we will offer you a place on another date or a full refund of the fee you paid.
- We are not responsible for travel or accommodation you have booked. Please check our cancellation and refund terms before you book them.
5. Who can attend
- Courses are for healthcare professionals. Each course page lists its prerequisites, for example prior scanning experience or access to a scanner.
- We may ask for evidence. If you do not meet the prerequisites, we may move your booking to a more suitable course or cancel it with a refund.
- You are responsible for working within your own professional scope and for having the right professional registration and insurance.
6. What the course gives you
- Our courses teach practical skills. You receive a Certificate of Attendance for the CPD hours of the course. It is not a certificate of competence.
- Learning to scan takes further supervised practice. A course does not replace that practice or your clinical judgement.
- Some programmes, such as the PGCert, have their own entry and assessment rules. These are set out on the course page.
7. Course materials and the student portal
- After you book, you may get access to our student portal (run by Thinkific) for pre-course reading, slides and feedback forms.
- Materials are for your own learning. Please do not copy, share or sell them without our written permission.
- Keep your login details private.
8. On the day
- Please follow the instructions of our tutors and the venue’s staff and rules.
- On cadaveric courses, handle donor material with respect and follow the safety and ethics rules you are given.
- Do not photograph, film or record sessions without our permission.
- We may ask someone to leave if their behaviour puts people at risk or disrupts the course. No refund is due in that case.
9. On-site training
Training we run at your clinic or department is agreed separately. We send a quote and the details, which apply alongside these terms.
10. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
- Otherwise, our total liability for any booking is limited to the fee you paid for it.
- We are not liable for losses we could not reasonably have predicted, or for events outside our control, such as severe weather, illness, strikes or travel disruption.
11. Your information
We handle your personal information as set out in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
12. Using this website
The content on this site belongs to SMUG or the people who gave us permission to use it. You may read it and share links. Please do not copy or republish it without asking. We try to keep it accurate, but it is general information and not medical or clinical advice.
13. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction.
- If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- We may update these terms. The version in force when you book is the one that applies to your booking.
