Alastair Nowell

Alastair Nowell is an experienced Physiotherapist and MSK Sonographer with more than 20 years’ specialist musculoskeletal experience. His practice has a strong focus on diagnostic MSK ultrasound, ultrasound-guided intervention and advanced clinical assessment, using imaging alongside clinical examination to support accurate diagnosis and targeted management.

Alastair has considerable experience in ultrasound-guided injection therapy, managing a broad range of conditions including knee osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff-related pain and greater trochanteric pain. His interventional practice includes corticosteroid, hyaluronic acid and Arthrosamid® injections, as well as ultrasound-guided shoulder hydrodilatation.

Alongside private practice, Alastair has extensive NHS experience as an Extended Scope Physiotherapist, managing complex MSK presentations at an advanced level. His high-volume clinical work, combined with an academic interest in sports medicine and tendon pathology, gives him a practical approach to ultrasound education focused on scanning, image interpretation and clinical reasoning.
